Located in Lindley, in Nketoana Municipality, Petune’s kitchen is more than a restaurant -it’s a community-driven establishment committed to making a difference in the lives of local learners and families.  Known for its delicious meals, warm atmosphere, and exceptional service, Petune’s Kitchen is a cornerstone of the community, with a mission that extends far beyond the kitchen.

Founded by Thabo Kumalo Petune in September 2022, the restaurant serves as a beacon of hope and a platform for various community initiatives aimed at supporting both the educational needs of students and the well-being of families in the area.

Petune’s kitchen understands that food is a basic need, but it also recognizes the importance of education in shaping a brighter future. This belief is at the core of the restaurant’s community outreach programs, with *#nolunchboxday* being one of the most prominent initiatives.

#Nolunchboxday was launched by Petune’s Kitchen as a way to help alleviate the struggle of local learners who may not have access to enough food or proper school supplies. On this special day, the restaurant provides meals to students and donates school uniforms and other essential items to those in need. So far, over 100 students in the Nketoana community have benefited from this initiative, giving them a better chance to succeed in their studies and take pride in their education.

In addition to #nolunchboxday, Petune’s kitchen is also involved in rewarding academic excellence. Each term, the top 5 highest performing students in every grade across three schools in Lindley are rewarded.  This initiative aims to inspire students to work harder and achieve their best, reinforcing the message that dedication to education is both valuable and appreciated.

Looking ahead, Petune’s kitchen has even bigger plans to further its commitment to community support. The restaurant is in the process of establishing a soup kitchen to provide hot meals for disadvantaged families, ensuring that no one in Nketoana goes to bed hungry.

Through these programs and its continued focus on uplifting local learners, Petune’s Kitchen has earned its place as a pillar of support in Lindley.
