The 5th edition of the Free State Gospel Music Awards is just around the corner, and excitement is building as the nominees for this year’s awards have been announced!
The 2025 edition of the awards will be held on 1 November at the Bloemfontein City Hall in Bloemfontein.
These awards play a crucial role in recognizing excellence in gospel music, showcasing the incredible talent of Free State gospel artists. Over the years, they have gained traction, becoming the most talked-about gospel awards in the province and even drawing attention from various parts of the country.
The Free State Gospel Music Awards not only celebrate excellence but also propel winners toward greater recognition and success, adding significant accolades to their portfolios. The visionary behind this initiative, Medupi “Dups” Molotsi, is a passionate Christian and gospel music enthusiast who has successfully fostered a platform for local talent.
Molotsi shared that the awards have evolved significantly since their inception, with past winners achieving remarkable success, including joining established groups like Spirit of Praise and gaining national recognition.
“We have a very solid industry today, well recognized nationally. Slowly but surely, we want to continue that. We want to push more artists further,” Molotsi commented.
Looking ahead, they are collaborating with national artists to elevate the awards’ profile. This year, they will partner with notable figures such as Keke Phoofolo, Keneiloe Hope from Spirit of Praise, David Sejake, and Wandile Moloi, among others, to enhance visibility and reach.
The awards will also honor Free State gospel legends, creating a bridge between the old and new generations of artists.
“Our posters have Free State Media houses. We have come to realise that we need to work together as Free Staters to build ourselves. We need to empower each other. You are going to see all the Free State Media houses at the awards this year. God has been so good to us.” Molotsi expressed.
