Details on how murder suspect Mojalefa Tsoanyane (35) allegedly killed his 40-year-old girlfriend and how he was arrested have been revealed to Free State World.

A member of the community who knew the couple shared what might have led to the unfortunate death of Conny Dipuo Saohatse (40).

The member of the community said Mojalefa is a DJ who frequently played at a nearby tavern not far from the house that he and his girlfriend stayed at in Phase 9.

The member of the community said the late victim used to stay with her late husband, and after he passed away, he dated Mojalefa after some time, and they moved in together at her home.

The member of the community alleges that the couple had a brawl in the wee hours of Sunday Morning (10 August), and that they allegedly fought over the car keys.

“This guy (allegedly) found the lady speaking on the phone, and they fought over that, then they shifted to the car key, where Mojalefa allegedly wanted car keys, and they fought over that, and he (allegedly) hit her with a tool, killing her.” Said the Member of the community.

However, police mentioned stabbing as what might have allegedly led to Conny’s death. It is alleged that after Mojalefa killed his girlfriend, he took TV sets and appliances, a Sansui Television and Hisense LCD TV, and a Defy Microwave and allegedly pawned them to get petrol money as he allegedly planned to escape.

How Conny’s body was found

The community of Phase 9 became worried when they did not see Conny, and whenever they questioned Mojalefa on her whereabouts, he allegedly gave different stories, such as Conny being at her family home in Phase 6 or being sick, among others.

“The community called the victim’s cousin, who told them that she was not with them and told (allegedly) the community to force open the door of Conny’s house to see what’s happening,” said the member of the community to Free State World.

After peeping through the window, they saw the lifeless body of Conny and called the Police and paramedics. Allegedly, the Paramedics said the victim might have been hit with an object.

How Mojalefa was found

The deceased’s car was found on the N8 road after being spotted abandoned, and on Tuesday, 12 August, a post that went viral on social media was shared looking for Mojalefa, and around 10am, four calls were received from the Botshabelo community members who spotted Mojalefa at a house allegedly belonging to his relative or family.

Two members of  Mangaung United Against Crime, known as Yanya Tsotsi from Phase 9 (Phase 9 Branch), and the police went to Botshabelo to help the police arrest Mojalefa. Mojalefa was allegedly found at a shop, arrested, and transported to Bloemfontein.

When they arrived in Bloemfontein, Mojalefa showed the police where he pawned the appliance and TV sets he took from Conny’s house.

“He (Mojalefa) told the police that he found Conny talking on the phone and they had a quarrel about it, as the deceased was (allegedly) speaking to a man on the phone, and they then fought over the car key, and that’s where the fight started.” The member of the community stated.
