Kroonstad Princess Kasumi (22) real name Naledi Monyake and Jamal Blaq (18) real name Karabo Ditabe) have released a joint EP.
The project was recorded and mastered by Henecbeatz (Ntibi Tsunke) of SoulK Records. SoulK Records is a recording label owned by Henecbeatz.
Princess Kasumi and Jamal Blaq are talented rappers who fell in love with music while in high school. The duo’s project is called “Impendulo and Stars Aligned” which is a musical art piece that challenges the women to sing in their mother tongue and mesmerize their followers.
The first track of the song “Ithuba”, expresses gratitude to the duo’s ancestors for a chance they granted them to make life better for them and reminding them not to exclude divine powers in their lives.
“Dikakapa” is another song that is recorded beautifully in Sesotho and the duo went all out to deliver a beautiful track.
“Pina tsa Marena” exposes the duo’s rapping and trap skills, the song is sure to get listeners nodding their heads up and down.
“Mahaeng” is a song for those homesick as it will make them go back home or reminisce about home.
“Ungayeki” is a love song sung in IsiZulu, it is about a lover talking to their partner urging them to continue loving them and not to stop. The music video for the song is available on the SoulK Records YouTube page.
“Tholang ke le Jwetse” is a little storytelling from Jamal and Kasumi about the Soulk Record label and their journey as artists. It is also a motivational song aimed to inspire people.
“Imithandazo” features a solo appearance by Jamal Blaq, it is a prayer song, a cry to God to answer her requests and guide her into finding the right friends and giving her strength.
The EP closes off with “Billy” where Princess Kasumi is featured in a solo appearance. It is a deep love song on a slow jam beat the song is about being missed and missing someone you love.
