Macufe 2025 is scheduled to take place from 3-7 September, with the launch event planned for 1 August. This edition marks a return after a three-year hiatus and will focus on arts and culture, reminiscent of its origins.
Lemo Fest 2025 will also be held, and its organizers fully support Macufe. They have invited the Free State Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, the organizers of Macufe, to utilize their facilities for hosting some Macufe events.
The Lemo Fest organizers stated that the revival of Macufe represents a significant milestone not only for the entertainment industry but for the Free State as a whole. They expressed their delight that the government has renewed its commitment to this flagship investment in the province.
“This return is more than just a victory for the entertainment industry; it serves as an economic and cultural boost for the region. It brings a renewed sense of energy and pride, creating opportunities for local artists, service providers, and small businesses, while attracting thousands of visitors to experience the heart and soul of our beautiful province,” said Lemo Fest.
Lemo Fest has called on the Free State provincial government to utilize the Lemo Green Park free of charge for hosting some Macufe events. They believe this initiative embodies the spirit of partnership, community development, and the promotion of the local economy.
“Bringing Macufe’s attendees to our Kasi will showcase the true and authentic Mangaung, full of color, vibrancy, rhythm, resilience, and deep connections. This partnership aims to empower local talent, enhance the township economy, and create long-term value for the region,” emphasized Lemo Fest.
They added that their primary objective is to foster connections and relationships among stakeholders rather than competition.
