Bloemfontein award-winning artist, Teboho Mabote, popularly known as Mr. SPL (Super Profound Legend), is over the moon after finally achieving his dream of performing at Macufe. With over 15 years of experience as a musician, Mr. SPL said being on the Macufe Main stage on September 6 was a dream come true and a recognition of his hard work as a local artist.
Mr. SPL described the performance as an incredible opportunity, exposing him to a different fanbase, which he believes will help him grow as an artist. The chance to perform at Macufe reinforced that his perseverance has been recognized.
He introduced the audience to his popular hits, supported by a four-piece band. “The opportunity introduced me to artists I haven’t seen in a while. Being in the same room as them showed that people really appreciate my talent. I didn’t realize the actual number of people who support and follow my music,” said Mr. SPL.
He encourages local artists to keep pushing forward, to be patient, and to understand that someone is always watching, assuring them that their big break will eventually come. Mr. SPL has been hard at work releasing hits such as “Nthuse Hle,” “Don’t Go,” “Pelo Yaka,” and more. Beyond being an award-winning artist, he is also a former reality TV star, having been featured on Moja Love’s reality show, “Lovey Dovey.”
Once on the Macufe stage, Mr. SPL and his band poured their hearts out to entertain the audience. He stirred emotions when he performed “Pelo Ya Ka,” prompting the audience to wave their hands in admiration, while some sang along or danced with their partners.
Mr. SPL left the Macufe stage feeling proud, making sure that his first performance at the festival was one to remember. He expressed gratitude to the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation for the opportunity to showcase his talent. This experience has only motivated the “Nthuse Hle” hitmaker to work even harder on his craft.
