Macufe may have come and gone, but it has certainly left a lasting impression on the artists who performed on its stage. One such artist is Bloemfontein’s award-winning house DJ, Nayshen SA. He ensured that his name would resonate in the hearts of patrons who experienced his magic for years to come.
Not only did Nayshen SA utilize the Macufe gig for himself, but he also shared his platform with fellow artists he collaborated with, including Browdy Brave, Percy the DJ, Dokotela Taba, and Flow Sounds.
Performing at Macufe 2025 was more than just another gig for Nayshen; it was a dream fulfilled. Macufe is a stage rich in history, culture, and pride for the Free State, and being part of it felt like a full-circle moment in Nayshen’s musical journey. The energy from the crowd was electric; he could feel the heartbeat of Bloemfontein in every cheer, dance move, and connection.
“I had a really good time. The reason I decided to share the platform with other emerging artists was simple — I was aware that the Department of Arts and Culture, Free State, couldn’t book everyone, even though their intention was clear in including many local talents in the festival. So for me, it was a selfless decision: to uplift and give space to other artists who also deserve to shine. At the end of the day, music is about community, and it was important for me to reflect that on stage,” Nayshen told Free State World.
It was never just about his performance; it was about creating moments that people would remember and celebrate long after the festival lights were switched off.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given and proud that I could represent the Free State alongside other amazing talents,” he added.
Macufe 2025 was a milestone for the award-winning DJ, giving him even more drive to continue pushing boundaries and bringing Free State talent to the world stage.
