After providing a platform for local talent to shine for years, 05nation NPO has announced the release of the third installment of their urban music compilations. These compilations feature music from various ‘05’ area codes, including the entire Free State and Northern Cape provinces, as well as select parts of the Eastern and Western Cape provinces.
The previous editions of the ‘05nation’ urban music compilations have showcased artists such as Black Champaign, The Fraternity, Marabele, Scavy Luv, Mandela Conana, Kulax Nthoethata, Thembile Thembile, Miss.P, Naycha, Kewand, MicBits, MC Fire, L’titude, Bacteria, Luuh, Flame Unit, DJ Nayshen SA, Andile.Q, Hanifa Buisk, Abuti Seboba, Aspekt Hussain, Nwabisa Magadla, Maida ZA Kwaito, Kally Kome, BD, Caask Acid, J-Swagger, Lebo-G, Physics Lejelathoko, Elvis.K, Thusga, Eric London, Desparado, Advocate, Harmony Skade, Ntebo, Nandi, Dudu The Vocalist, and DJ Octopuz, among others.
The purpose of these compilations is to highlight musicians and producers from central South Africa. The 05nation urban music compilation Volume 3 is shaping up to be an essential playlist for 2025, featuring talent from throughout the Free State, Kimberley, Kuruman, and Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape.
Submissions for the compilation were open from the beginning of March and closed on May 31, 2025. A panel of music industry professionals, including two producers, a radio compiler, and an A&R executive from a major label, will adjudicate the submissions. The final selection will be curated, and the songs will be licensed for release on streaming platforms. All urban genres will be accommodated.
“As an arts-based NPO, we pride ourselves on our continuous developmental initiatives in the creative sector. We strive to shine a spotlight on our artists and creatives from the 05 areas, particularly in the Free State and Northern Cape,” said a representative from the NPO.
The 05nation urban music compilation Volume 3 is scheduled for release at the end of July 2025.
