Talented youth from Jagersfontein in the Free State, Karabo Legetla, is making waves with the publication of her debut book, “The Picture.” At just 20 years old, she has showcased her ability to adapt and shine in various creative arenas.
“The Picture” is a poignant poetic tale that delves into themes of love, loss, and the enduring nature of memories. It follows the journey of a man mourning the loss of his partner, who remains deeply connected to her memory. Through poetic storytelling, he fills the spaces around him with echoes of their shared moments. The inspiration for this heartfelt narrative comes from the French song “Love Story” by Indila.

Karabo’s passion for writing ignited at the young age of 10 when she penned illustrated stories to share with her teachers. This early fascination with storytelling evolved over the years, ultimately leading her back to poetry in December 2024 with the creation of “The Picture.”
This unique blend of poetic narrative and fiction offers readers a fresh perspective on love and memory. The book is set to be launched on September 10, 2025, at the Jagersfontein Library in Free State, and will be published by Charmza Literary Club, marking an exciting milestone in Karabo’s burgeoning literary career.
