Sister Bettina hitmaker, Mgarimbe (Nkosinathi Mfeka) was booked and fully paid to perform at Midnight Oasis club in Wepener, in the Free State but he didn’t show up for the gig.

Proof of payments in Free State World’s possession shows that Mgarimbe was fully paid. He even did a video confirming his availability for the Wepener gig he was booked for.

Palesa Phinda, the owner of Midnight Oasis said Mgarimbe was booked to perform at her club on Saturday 26 April. This is after Tumelo Boleme approached Palesa to book Mgarimbe to perform at her joint.

“Unfortunately he did not show up at my place. He was initially booked to perform in Zastron and they approached me saying they would like for him to come play at my establishment as well since he is coming to Free State.” Said Palesa.

She said R3500 was first  requested which she paid and then a few weeks later, they allegedly claimed that the owner of a club in Zastron has cancelled Mgarimbe so they allegedly asked for a further R3500 since he was now coming specially for the Midnight Oasis gig. In total, R7000 was paid.

According to Palesa, she was astonished to see Mgarimbe on a Meriting Lounge poster on 25 April as she was allegedly told that he was only coming to perform at Midnight Oasis.

Following his no-show at Midnight Oasis, Palesa allegedly contacted Meriting owner who allegedly confirmed to her that Mgarimbe also did not show up.

Palesa is fuming and wants her money from the Sister Bettina hitmaker as people were looking to see him perform live as he did a video confirming his attendance for the gig.

Palesa stated that, she reached out to Mgarimbe but he allegedly blocked her immediately. She wants her money and is disappointed in Tumelo Boleme who allegedly told her to pay the full amount before the gig to Mgarimbe.

In an alleged voice-note of Mgarimbe sent to Free State World where Mgarimbe is talking to Tumelo, he said once he gets the money(outstanding balance) he will drive straight to the gig as he needs to pour in petrol and change the car tyre as it will be a long drive to Free State.

Speaking to Free State World when contacted for a comment, Tumelo Boleme confirmed that Mgarimbe was paid. The money was paid to Tumelo Boleme’s account by Palesa who in turn paid Mgarimbe.

Tumelo showed Free State World, a proof of payment, proving that he paid Mgarimbe. He paid into a Standard Bank account allegedly belonging to Mgarimbe.

A screenshot sent to Free State World shows a Standard Bank payment notification in a conversation between Mgarimbe and Tumelo, where Mgarimbe is confirming receiving the money from Tumelo.

Tumelo said he only took R300 for petrol and paid the rest to Mgarimbe. He said he was supposed to meet Mgarimbe in Tweespruit and they were going to take the Hobhouse road to Wepener.

“I waited for him and he didn’t pitch at all. After the money reflected in his bank account, he told me that he was on the way and around 4pm, he told me he was approaching Bethlehem and I waited for him.” Said Tumelo.

He stated that he waited for Mgarimbe for hours and when he called him, he didn’t answer his phone and he no longer see his profile picture on WhatsApp which could mean that Mgarimbe allegedly blocked Tumelo.

Tumelo showed Free State World the account number he used to pay Mgarimbe. He says he gave him enough time to pay back Palesa and he will be blocking Mgarimbe’s account number at the bank as it received the money and will be opening a case of fraud against him. This move is meant to make Mgarimbe to pay back the money.

On Wednesday 30 April, Tumelo told Free State World that he has blocked the account and was given a reference number and awaiting the fraud department from Capitec to contact him.

“I heard that he is used to taking people’s money and not showing up at their events. He took money from people in Limpopo, Hammanskral and Kimberly.” Tumelo emphasized.

Explaining how he met Mgarimbe, Tumelo said Mgarimbe saw a Free State tour status from someone who posted it as he was behind it and asked for Tumelo’s number and contacted him to work with him on his own Free State tour.

Tumelo said Mgarimbe contacted him again  allegedly asking if he had a gig for him in the Free State and that’s when he reached out to Wepener and Zastron club owners to book him.

“He has blocked me, I asked people to contact him but when he hears its people from Free State, he blue ticks them. I don’t owe him anything as he confirmed he was paid” Said Tumelo.

Free State World reached out to Mgarimbe for a comment and a right of reply via WhatsApp but he did not revert back to us at the time of publishing.
