Theunissen rapper Nine-Four Dagger has released his much-anticipated album, “2001.” This 11-track album, titled after Dagger’s birth year, is released by SoulK Records, a rising Kroonstad-based record label that features prominent artists such as Jamal Blaq, Khulumthii, and Princess Kasumi, among others.
On the first track, “2001,” Dagger takes listeners on a nostalgic journey as he reflects on his mother’s role in his life and recounts events surrounding his birth. He pays homage to his mother for carrying him for nine months and expresses his desire to make her proud.
He also credits HeneCbeats, his producer, (“HeneCBeats You so Bad.”) “Letter to My Sister” is a heartfelt plea to Dagger’s sister where he pours out his emotions and shares his pain. He offers numerous apologies, acknowledging his shortcomings and expressing regret.
“Voice Yakasi,” the third song on the album, showcases Dagger’s storytelling ability.
