The Xhariep District in the Free State may be small, but that hasn’t hindered the flourishing of the arts or the development of artistic talent. Itumeleng Moloana Godfrey, a theatre practitioner, choreographer, and dancer from Springfontein in the Xhariep District, has collaborated with various artists throughout the Free State.
He has actively participated in community programs, working with different organizations to create a healthy environment for the arts. In 2016, Itumeleng participated in Pacof’s incubator program, where he contributed to a production titled “Secrets.”

After completing the six-month program, he joined the Bokang Lefoko Theatre Company. Currently, Itumeleng continues his work at the Bokang Lefoko Theatre. He was elected as a member of the Xhariep Community Arts Centre’s Network and was subsequently chosen to serve as the chairperson.
“I am currently leading the entire Xhariep District to improve the lives of local artists by providing them with the necessary assistance from the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation through our organization,” Itumeleng emphasized.
“I also teach arts as part of an after-school program for students at Springfontein Secondary School, where I instruct them in dance, drama, and poetry.”
