The 2025 Central Music Awards held at the Bloemfontein City Hall were a resounding success, showcasing the vibrant talent of the Free State music scene. This year’s ceremony, now in its fourth edition, featured an impressive production quality that made it a memorable event.

Kicking off the awards was the beautiful performance of “Woza Vrystaat,” a collaborative effort by various Free State artists, setting an uplifting tone for the evening. The event celebrated the achievements of hardworking individuals in the music and entertainment industry, recognizing both emerging talents and established legends.

Prominent figures such as William Mthethwa, Khahliso Pitso, and Dr. Bhakarat were honored with lifetime achievement awards for their significant contributions to the industry. Mthethwa, known for his deep-rooted legacy and widespread acclaim, has been a household name across South Africa for years.

The audience was treated to exhilarating performances by local talents, including Ta-Mrutsi, Mr. SPL, Scavy Luv, Blaq Zicco, and Seneath, among others. Artists like Sir Zito, Rebatone, Ziddo, and Star Kruss ensured they left the stage with coveted awards.

Medupi Seane took home the title of Best Gospel Artist of the Year, while Ras B won the Best Reggae/Dance award. Ziddo was recognized as the Best Music Producer of the Year, and Reverend Thami Mancho was awarded Best Artist Living with Disability.

The highly competitive Song of the Year category saw Khadeair’s hit “Magumba” emerge victorious, with representatives accepting the award on his behalf.
