Free State comedy icon Itumeleng Molise, better known by his stage name Rasta Eye N Eye, is set to receive a special honour during the 9th Hu’s Lafing Now Valentine’s Edition, taking place on 14 February at the City Hall in Bloemfontein.
Sputniki Entertainment Holdings (Pty) Ltd will shine a spotlight on Itumeleng Molise as he is presented with the esteemed “Contribution to Free State Comedy Award.” This award recognizes his long-standing dedication to the growth of comedy in the province and highlights his pivotal role in shaping the humor, voice, and stage culture of Free State audiences.
For many years, Rasta Eye N Eye has been a beloved figure on the Hu’s Lafing Now stage, consistently delivering performances that have left thousands in stitches. His ability to connect with the audience through relatable humor has established him as a staple in the local comedy scene.
Organized by Sputniki Entertainment Holdings, Hu’s Lafing Now has committed to honoring local figures in the entertainment industry who have been integral to the platform’s growth.
Itumeleng “Sputniki” Maruping, the CEO of Sputniki Entertainment Holdings, mentioned that the award is part of a growing tradition within the Hu’s Lafing Now brand.
The “Contribution to Free State Comedy Award” was first awarded to comedy legend David Kau in 2025, and the vision moving forward is to honor one outstanding contributor to Free State comedy each year, recognizing those who have shaped the industry.
Maruping expressed that honoring Molise is both a celebration of his career and a tribute to the many comedians who have built the Free State comedy movement from the ground up.
