Reverend and former police official Motantsi Samuel Makhele is returning to his roots to launch his debut book, “The Boy Child Speaks!” This highly anticipated event will take place in his hometown of Dewetsdorp in the Free State from 19-21 June.
This homecoming launch is particularly significant as it coincides with Father’s Day week and takes place in Makhele’s birth month, adding a layer of personal meaning to the occasion as he reconnects with the community that shaped his formative years.
Hosted under the theme “The Boy Child Speaks at Home,” the event aims to promote positive parenting, mentorship, healing, and the empowerment of boys and young men within families and communities.
“The Boy Child Speaks!” is a deeply personal and thought-provoking book where Reverend Makhele reflects on his life journey through a conversation between his seven-year-old self and the man he has become at fifty-six. Through engaging themes such as childhood experiences, resilience, faith, identity, healing, and personal growth, the book offers a voice to the often-overlooked experiences of the boy child.
As a retired South African Police Service brigadier, ordained minister, author, and community leader, Reverend Makhele is passionate about youth development and the restoration of strong family values. His decision to host the book launch in Dewetsdorp signifies both a celebration and a call to action, encouraging communities to invest in the well-being of boys and young men.
The three-day program will feature selected school and community outreach activities, prayer and healing engagements, women’s empowerment discussions, and visits to elderly community members, all aimed at fostering unity and positive development within the community.
