Mighty Warriors Christian Church (MWCC) in Thaba Nchu is making strides to ensure that the youth within the church and surrounding communities are nurtured both spiritually and physically through sports. On June 16, in celebration of Youth Day, the church organized a Youth Day soccer tournament, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional festivities often marked by motivational speeches and alcohol.
Pastor Tumelo David Masekwa emphasized that while prayer and reading the Bible are central to their faith, participating in sports is equally important and accessible for born-again individuals.

The tournament aimed to demonstrate that engaging in physical activities can be a constructive way to relieve stress and steer clear of social challenges, all while commemorating June 16 in a positive light.
“This event serves to remind the youth that beyond church, they can come together for sports, whether it’s soccer or other activities. Collaboration fosters connections, allowing them to recognize and nurture each other’s talents,” Pastor Masekwa explained.

Both boys and girls participated, not only showcasing their soccer skills but also learning about the value of teamwork, essential for achieving both personal and collective goals. The tournament also highlighted the benefits of being actively involved in sports. Individual players who excelled were honored with trophies and medals, reinforcing motivation and commitment among the youth.
The initiative by MWCC embodies a holistic approach to youth engagement, promoting health, unity, and positive community involvement.
