The Premier of the Free State Province, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, alongside DARDEA MEC Elzabe Rockman and HOD Tshepo Mabilo, on Fridat 4 September visited the Bambanani Sizwe Luncheon Club located in Phase 6, Bloemfontein. This visit followed a previous engagement where Luncheon Club members had the opportunity to share their challenges and needs.
Among the issues raised during that engagement were concerns about theft, the dilapidated structure of the club, and inadequate fencing for security. In response, MEC Rockman announced that construction of a new fence would begin on Monday, aimed at enhancing the safety of the members.
As part of a collaborative effort with MTN and the Red Cross, the elderly members received essential items such as cellphones, food parcels, blankets, and groceries, which they will utilize at the Luncheon Club. The dignitaries also took part in planting indigenous trees to promote environmental awareness within the community.
During her keynote address, Premier Letsoha-Mathae emphasized the significance of the project, expressing her joy in returning to fulfill the promises she previously made to the Luncheon Club members.
“I have a beautiful plan for this place and will continue to seek contributions from other departments to ensure its sustainability,” the Premier stated.
She concluded her address by acknowledging MEC Rockman for providing more support than she had initially requested, reinforcing the commitment to uplift the community.
