BLOEMFONTEIN — The vibrant cultural heartbeat of the Free State is set to beat louder than ever this season as the official programme for the Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) 2026 was formally presented at the National Museum in Bloemfontein.

Celebrated as one of the southern hemisphere's largest multi-disciplinary cultural celebrations, this year's festival will feature an array of flagship showcases including the legendary MACUFE Jazz Festival, Divas Concert, Comedy Night, Theatre Productions at the Pacofs complex, and the thunderous Gospel Celebration.

Economic and Tourism Impact

Hospitality venues, guesthouses, and culinary establishments throughout Mangaung and surrounding towns are already reporting surging booking inquiries. Provincial tourism executives project an economic injection exceeding R120 million into local transport, catering, hospitality, and artisan retail businesses.

"MACUFE is far more than entertainment; it is an economic catalyst that places our provincial artistic talent on the continental stage," commented the Festival Director during the launch ceremony. "From youth theatre workshops in Botshabelo to premier jazz stages in Westdene, we are celebrating real African excellence."

Tickets go on sale nationwide via Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers kiosks from Monday morning, with early bird packages available for festival enthusiasts.
