The Bultfontein Arts Council, representing over 24 community arts groups and solo artists from Bultfontein in the Free State, made a meaningful impact during Mandela Month by visiting the Itekeng Disability Centre, an organization dear to their hearts.

As part of their contribution, the artists engaged in various activities, including cleaning the yard and rooms, cooking meals, painting walls, and connecting directly with the residents in a heartfelt manner.

Their efforts were not just about service; they also brought joy through inclusive performances in poetry, drama, comedy, gospel, dance (both traditional and modern), and live music. Additionally, the artists took the time to teach traditional dance moves, helping the residents form their own disability-inclusive traditional dance group.

“Even small towns can make a big difference when artists lead with compassion,” said Lydia Letuka from the Arts Council.
