Bultfontein may be a small town in the Free State, but it is buzzing with talent. This was made evident by three teenagers from the area who have published their debut book titled “Toro/Dream.”

The book was authored by Thuto Jack Letuka, Palesa Patricia Mohatalle, and Lefu Junior Letuka.

Toro/Dream is a bilingual poetry collection written in Sesotho and English. The title reflects both aspiration and imagination, capturing the voices of young and emerging poets growing up in Bultfontein, where daily struggles and community challenges shape their artistry.

The collection celebrates identity, culture, and national pride while addressing pressing social issues such as youth struggles, education, peer pressure, drug abuse, unity, and hope.

The authors aim to empower and uplift the youth, encouraging them to use their voices as tools for change. While some poems delve into personal emotions, others speak to the collective future of the Basotho people and African youth.

“In essence, Toro/Dream is not just about poetry; it is about giving the youth a platform to dream, express, and lead through literature,” the trio shared.
