After competing in the 2023 Red Bull Dance Your Style Qualifiers and falling short of the finals, twenty-year-old Gatebe Tshotleho, also known as Vandal Bujwa from Ha-Ntshabeng, Qwaqwa, triumphed this past weekend in Bloemfontein.
The crowd went wild as dancers from different styles battled it out in a 1-on-1 faceoff, showcasing their unique freestyle moves at the Red Bull Dance Your Style Qualifier, a long-running global street dance competition. This is not like other events because the winner is chosen by the public and the focus is on freestyle dancing.
“I’ve been training hard since the battle last year, so it’s an honour to win. I wanted to get better this year after realizing where I had made faults. I was attending 5-hour sessions to practice for this as I wanted to win,” says Vandal Bujwa
Vandal Bujwa stated that he will be putting a lot of effort into improving certain aspects of his dance and ahead of the national finals, where he will represent Bloemfontein.
