Kgotso Mothibi, better known as Peace Brian, has earned the nickname “Mr. Loadshedding” for his dedication to keeping the residents of Thaba Nchu informed about load-shedding schedules.
This name was given to him by a local journalist in an article, and it has since become widely recognized. What many people may not know is that Brian is a multitalented individual who genuinely cares about his community. He is always eager to make a difference not only in Thaba Nchu but across the Free State.
In addition to his role as Mr. Loadshedding, Brian serves as a volunteer PR administrator for various companies in the Free State, including the Mangaung Renault Roadshow team. He also works as a stage manager for events, an entertainment marketing manager, and an RnB DJ.

When asked about his inspiration to pursue RnB music as a DJ, Brian shared, “Honestly, I observed the types of music played on Sundays and at events and realized that RnB was rarely featured. So, I decided to take the opportunity to become a DJ as a hobby.”
Brian has long admired Serame Ralekoala, also known as DJ Lewete, and has been a loyal follower of the Love Train events. It was through these events that Brian observed DJ Lewete’s ability to connect with the audience, which deepened his passion for Deejaying.

Les Da DJ has also played a significant role in Brian’s life, positively influencing his journey. Peace specializes in RnB and pop music but occasionally plays house and some piano tunes.
“I love these genres because many RnB songs convey powerful messages about life situations and struggles, especially those from artists active between 2000 and 2010. This music makes me feel blessed to be alive,” Brian explained.

However, being a DJ comes with its challenges. Brian encounters issues such as some resident DJs not accommodating RnB DJs, assuming they might overshadow their sessions, forgetting that the goal is to entertain the crowd. Regarding his role as Mr. Loadshedding and his decision to provide load-shedding updates, Brian stated that he began posting in September 2020 while unemployed.
What started as a joke to pass the time evolved into a regular service where he began frequently posting accurate load-shedding schedules to keep people informed. As his updates gained traction, more residents began to follow him, prompting him to create poster updates that often go viral on Facebook.
Whenever load-shedding occurs, Brian springs into action, keeping the residents of Thaba Nchu informed. He feels humbled by the love and respect he receives from the community for his efforts.

“I’ve become more motivated to see that there’s more I can do to help the community and promote small businesses to succeed. Load-shedding may be a challenge for all of us, but for me, it has helped me grow and prepared me for future projects,” Brian emphasized.
Currently, Brian is part of the Mangaung Renault Roadshow team, which supplies food parcels to families in Thaba Nchu. He is also seeking sponsorship to donate sanitary towels to schools and girls in the area. Looking ahead, Brian plans to organize a free event for emerging artists in Thaba Nchu and a soccer tournament for boys and girls.
