Hoopstad in the Free State might be a small town, but that has not stopped its residents from pursuing their dreams. One of them is Katleho “Kat” Sehloho, who aims to put his hometown on the map through visual art.
Residing in Tikwana location in Hoopstad, Katleho’s passion for art began as a hobby and has grown into an integral part of his life.
“I am an aspiring mixed media visual artist who focuses mostly on the human form, particularly large portraits of both young and old, depending on my reference or what comes to mind as an artist. I started creating art at the age of 7 alongside my twin brother. It was in grade 7 that I realized I was a visual artist. Art lives in my heart; it is life to me,” said Katleho.
His lifelong goal is to excel in all aspects of art and become more knowledgeable about the art industry. The Hoopstad artist wants to be recognized as a hardworking visual artist.
Katleho dreams of exhibiting in various art exhibitions and in prestigious galleries worldwide.
“I do art for a living, and I dwell within the realm of creativity. I grew up without any formal art training; I did not attend art school, but I taught myself everything. After finishing my matric in 2020 at Tikwana Comprehensive School, I decided to fully embrace this passion of mine,” he emphasized.
