Stephen Malgas, originally from Hobhouse in the Free State is proving that hard work and dedication pays and brings financial reward.
He is a budding entreprenuer who sells in his community, instead of being involved in social ills, Malgas ventured into entreprenuership, which feeds him.
Malgas hails from Hobhouse and later moved to Tweespruit, where he built his life and business. He has been baking and selling chicken feet for 12 years. This small business has done so much for him, it has kept him focused, grounded, and away from negativity.
“I started this business after realizing how difficult life was becoming. Instead of turning to crime or doing things that could harm others, I chose to work honestly and build something for myself. I am not someone who drinks alcohol or uses drugs, and my business keeps me busy and gives me purpose every day”
In addition to selling chicken feet, Malgas also mow lawns using a machine, and enjoys it. Mowing makes him happy because he knows that he is earning an honest living.
Even though challenges are always there, Malgas does everything he can to overcome them and grow.
“One of the things that inspires me is seeing young people trying to start their own businesses. I want to encourage them to keep pushing, even when jobs are scarce. I want them to know that as long as they have ideas and determination, they can build something meaningful”
Malgas’s wish is to find someone who can help him expand his business, so that he can create opportunities for others. It hurts Malgas seeing young people turn to alcohol and drugs because they believe there is no work.
“My dream is to grow my business and empower more young people to choose a better future” He echoed.
