Visual artist Gift “Yung Jay SA” Nakanyane claims that Lethabo Woods, a well-known content creator, owes him money for a portrait he created for him.
According to Gift, he made a portrait of Lethabo Woods and charged him R300, which he says has not come forth despite handing the artwork to Lethabo.
Gift said Lethabo allegedly promised to pay but didn’t keep his promise. Lethabo received the portrait on 4 June 2025.
“I made a portrait for somebody, and he saw it and commented that he wants it too. And I did it, but before I framed it, I asked him if he would pay if I framed it, and he replied with a yes.” Said Gift.
He explained that he met Lethabo, gave him the portrait, but he didn’t have cash on him and allegedly promised to send him the money.
Gift added that he trusted Lethabo, and after some weeks, he allegedly asked him if he was still going to pay or not, and according to Gift, Lethabo allegedly told him he would get his money, R300 for the portrait.
“I still don’t understand how he goes on with his life vlogging and being in restaurants while he owes people. Rumours are that I’m not the only one he owes.” Said Gift.
Free State World reached out to Lethabo Woods for a comment and to offer him a right of reply to tell his side of the story.
Replying to Free State World, Lethabo said he asked Gift to meet him so that he could return his portrait, and Gift failed to meet him.
“I did ask him to meet up so he could get his portrait, and he couldn’t. I’m still waiting for him to come or meet up with me so I can hand it over.” Said Lethabo.
He further said his lawyer will be involved if any article is written about him.
“My lawyer will have to be involved if there is any article written about me because I tried to settle this and give him back his work before, and I wasn’t met halfway as he told me he is out of Bloem. We will be in contact soon.” Lethabo emphasized.
He sent Free State World a WhatsApp conversation allegedly sent to Gift telling him to meet so that Gift can get his portrait.
In other news, Free State World has been contacted by an event organizer who alleges that Lethabo never pitched for an event he was allegedly booked for as an MC in 2023.
