Born and bred in Thaba Nchu, Free State, Mosito Motlhakoane has proven that one’s background doesn’t limit or prohibit success. Hailing from Motlatla in Thaba Nchu, Dr. Motlhakoane has recently published his debut book titled “The Orphanage,” a collection of his memories from childhood to the present day.
In this compelling narrative, he portrays the challenges he faced throughout his life, including poverty, being raised by a strict single mother frequently away at work, experiencing divorce, and enduring betrayals. These candid reflections highlight persistence, patience, resilience, and the power of dreaming. His passion for turning dreams into reality resonates throughout the pages.
“My book is all about inspiring both young and old to cherish and chase their dreams, even in the face of numerous hurdles,” the author expressed. “It aims to give them the courage to navigate through this busy, brutal, and unkind world, encouraging them to create as many options as possible. Nothing is more painful than living a life without choices.”
According to Mosito, the inspiration for his book came from those with whom he has shared his stories, particularly his mother and teachers, who played pivotal roles in his journey.
“I’ve learned that everything my mother and my teachers encouraged me to believe I could achieve, I eventually did. The hunger for success they instilled in me, along with the discipline to reach my dreams, shaped who I am today. This book is a gift to them,” he remarked.
Growing up as a rejected child, Mosito often found solace in reading and writing. He mentioned that due to a stutter in his youth, he felt that people understood him better through his writing than through spoken words.
