Masego Ntswaki Finger (26) is not folding her arms and waiting for a job, she believes that everyone can create their own income. She sells scones, mini-cakes, cake cups, sandwiches, snacks, sweets, muffins and hot dogs and so creates a living for herself.

Her passion for baking and cooking inspired her to start her business, having decided unemployment wasn’t for her.  Finger wanted financial security and stability, which pushed her to sell other items besides the cakes and scones she initially started selling.

She credits her mother, who lent her money to start her business. Since 2022, Finger has been a budding entrepreneur who loves what she does.

She sells her products from her home. Her prices for scones range from R12, while cakes range from R350 to R380. Desserts range from R15 to R55.

The Mmabana Cultural Centre Manager has also invited her to sell her products at the centre during events. This has helped Finger to be exposed to various people and gain new clients.

Finger has calls on young people to use their skills, talent and doing what they love to earn an income and make a living. She emphasised that waiting for the government and handouts was not the way to go, but young people need to take the first step to success.

She firmly believes that a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. You can reach Masego on 0640284237.
