Initiation schools play an important role in transforming boys into men, shaping them into strong men who will protect their families, and communities and be proud of their culture.
It is an age-old tradition still respected and practiced, whenever the graduation ceremonies are held where the now transformed men return to their families after spending some weeks in the mountains, there is happiness ululation, and celebrations.

Mangaung Lekgotla Le Kopane (MLLK) is an organization formed on 8 February 2021, by initiation school owners and those who went to initiation schools, their duty is to ensure that those at initiation schools are safe, have permission from their parents to attend initiation schools, they also ensure that the initiates attend school and do well in their academics,
The Acting Chairperson of MLLK, Kabelo Rapuleng said they are a registered non-profit organization and have over 120 members and work with the Department of Cooperative Government and House of Traditional Affairs (COGHTA) and traditional leaders to promote their culture and keep it active.

“If an initiates gives parents problems at home, we attend to it and we keep in touch with their parents to make sure they respect their parents and we monitor them closely,” said Rapuleng.
On 20 January at the Kaizer Sebothelo stadium, the organization together with Mangaung Metro Municipality and various stakeholders celebrated a successful December 2023 initiation season.
