Tumelo Mofokeng, a 17-year-old rugby player from Senekal, has received an incredible opportunity to represent Senekal, Free State, and South Africa at the upcoming 7’s Rugby Tournament in Dubai.
The tournament will take place in Dubai from November 26 to December 3, 2025. To participate, Tumelo needs to raise R56990, which can be paid in installments.
Tumelo is a distinguished young player with multiple awards in his short rugby career. He has been selected to join the Travel and Sport U19 7’s Rugby Team due to his exceptional performance at the VKB U19 Rugby Week.
The payment plan requires Tumelo to make an initial deposit of R5000 due on July 20, followed by remaining installments on August 1, September 1, September 30, and October 20. Tumelo is currently a Grade 11 student at Ficksburg High School.
“I have been playing rugby since 2016 and have been fortunate to represent the Free State in various age groups. I faced significant challenges growing up, being raised by a single mother and later adopted by my uncle, who was tragically murdered in 2021. I have worked hard to excel in both rugby and academics, particularly after his death, as it was tough to make ends meet. Now that I have been selected for the Dubai 7’s tournament, I see it as a great opportunity to represent South Africa on an international stage,” said Tumelo.
