Qwaqwa singer, songwriter, and storyteller Mashka (Khululekane Ishmael Motaung) has released a brand new EP titled “Lokollohang”. This project marks Mashka’s sophomore EP.
Quietly shared through snippets on social media, the EP has started to draw attention, as many listeners find it relatable. Lokollohang focuses on the theme of freedom, exploring emotional, creative, and personal aspects. The EP aims to tell a story honestly, reflecting Mashka’s journey on his terms.
Mashka emphasized that he wanted to narrate his experiences without featuring other artists on the project. “

There’s nothing special about doing it alone. It just wouldn’t have made sense to have features on this one. This is my journey. Whether it was painful or peaceful, I’m the one who went through it. So I had to tell it myself,” he explained.
The EP consists of six tracks, each placed with intention. It begins with the title track Lokollohang followed by Manyeloi and Diheleng, which address inner tension and life lessons. Izinto and Moya elevate the energy and delve deeper into spiritual themes, leading to the final track, Honeng, which concludes the story.
Hailing from Thaba Tsoeu in Qwaqwa, Mashka began making music at the age of 15 and joined the Tshepe movement. He prioritizes creating music that resonates with him rather than chasing trends, drawing inspiration from his life and Qwaqwa roots. In 2023, he released his debut EP Lemong Sena, produced by DeejayZaca, which featured artists such as MusiholiQ, Kamoh Xaba, B33kaySA, and Skoen Pampiri.
