A mother of two from Bloemfontein, Lomile Dithakong, has made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious annual Mrs South Africa pageant. As a married mother of two girls aged 13 and 5, Lomile’s motivation for entering the competition is rooted in purpose rather than just prestige. For her, this journey transcends the allure of a crown—it’s truly about making an impact.
As a wife, mother, and community leader, she aims to challenge the stereotype that pageantry is reserved for young, unmarried women. Lomile believes that women do not lose their value with age, marriage, or motherhood; rather, they often become more empowered.
“I wanted to represent faith, resilience, humility, and purpose, and show other women that it is never too late to step boldly into rooms they once thought were not for them,” remarked Lomile.
Her husband has been a significant source of support throughout her journey, encouraging her to enter the pageant and serving as her pillar of strength. She expressed how his encouragement has reinforced her belief that a strong marriage creates opportunities for personal growth.
“He has been present, prayerful, and practical in his support, constantly reminding me why I started. Having a partner who believes in your vision makes this journey even more meaningful,” she shared.
Lomile encourages married women to understand that marriage does not signify the end of their dreams; instead, it can act as a partnership that empowers them to reach new heights.
