Budding Botshabelo-based Gwijo group, Gwijo The Legacy, is back and proving that Gwijo music is here to stay with their latest single titled “Mama Ka Sibongile.” Led by Khaya Matetoane and Lesedi “Mamie” Bembe, this dynamic collective of passionate young voices is dedicated to preserving and uplifting traditional Gwijo music.
“Mama Ka Sibongile” is an emotional exploration of love, heartbreak, and betrayal. The song tells the story of someone who has been deeply hurt in a relationship, where their love was taken for granted. The poignant lines, “wathatha uthando lwam, wadlala ngalo,” convey the pain of giving your heart to someone who does not appreciate it. Last year, they released an EP featuring trending songs like “Thabo Dula Fatshe” and “Ndimdala,” which are available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Now, “Mama Ka Sibongile” is available on all major digital platforms, including YouTube Music.
