From Nyakallong in Allenridge, Free State, Fantas The DJ, whose real name is John Mafantiri, has proven that success is not limited by one’s background. Embodying the spirit of possibility, he embraces the title of the God-fearing and anointed DJ, with the saying that “everything DJ Fantas touches turns to gold.”

Known for his ability to draw crowds, all of Fantas The DJ’s shows are consistently sold out, earning him nicknames like Mr. Sold-Out Shows, DJ Ya Style, Woolworths product, and Mr. Drip Sundays. His impressive list of achievements includes hosting a series of successful events.

One of his hallmark creations, the popular Parking Lot event, began in 2015 and attracted 9,289 attendees at Nyakallong Stadium, which was full. This event positively impacted local small businesses by boosting their sales during the show.

In 2020, he hosted the Parking Lot Lockdown Experience tour over three consecutive weeks, which also saw all shows sell out, again bringing together huge crowds. This tour featured a partnership with the telecommunications giant MTN (Mobile Telephone Networks).

Student Night Thursdays, established in 2017, has become a vibrant staple of the week, providing entertainment and drawing big names in the South African entertainment scene. Major artists have graced this event, contributing to its growing fame.

Fantas The DJ

Displaying his multifaceted talent, Fantas The DJ showcased his skills on an international stage during the Lockdown House Party on Channel O (DSTV 320), hosted by prominent figures Shimza and DJ PH. His reputation extends nationally as a former resident DJ on the renowned Metro FM, where he was part of the MOG show for two years.

The Drip Sundays Lifestyle Event, established in 2021, has enjoyed seven editions, with four being notably successful and sold out, attracting attendees from across South Africa. This momentum even led to a Drip Sunday show hosted in Durban.

In 2024, Fantas The DJ brought the highly anticipated “SA Most Wanted” show to Bloemfontein during the Macufe weekend, partnering with Bridge Entertainment for a sold-out event. He later mesmerized the audience at the Fill Up Toyota Stadium in 2025 with his captivating performance behind the decks.

He played a major role in the Fill-Up show; he was part of the organising and marketing of the mega show.

Kicking off 2026 with great energy, Fantas The DJ launched “Fly Huns” and “Hip Hop Fridays” to cater to hip-hop lovers. Hip Hop Fridays quickly became a hit with Hip Hop lovers, and the venues are filled to capacity by Hip Hop lovers on Fridays.

Beyond his deejaying talents, Fantas The DJ is dedicated to uplifting other artists. He played a pivotal role in showcasing Khaya Dumako, a talented rapper from Odendaalsrus, by having him featured on the Tswayza show through his Drip Sundays platform. Tswayza even gave Fantas a shout-out on his show.

Fantas The DJ has also passionately engaged with the community through his numerous charity drives since 2013 by donating school uniforms, school shoes, and food hampers to those in need. He continues to donate to families in need.

An effective brand ambassador, Fantas The DJ has been a brand ambassador for Handa Boy Clothing, DNA, Zero Hang, Levante Garde Sparkling Wine, Legends Barbershop, and Dunlop Welkom, amongst others.
