The Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Ntombizanele Sifuba, officially handed over equipment at Namahadi Library in Namahadi, Phuthaditjhaba. This important event marks a significant milestone for the community and fulfills a long-held dream of the Bakoena Traditional Council under the leadership of Morena e Moholo, Moremoholo Mopeli.
The new facility is expected to improve access to information, promote a culture of reading, and create opportunities for lifelong learning. In her address, MEC Sifuba reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment, as outlined in the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, to strengthening partnerships with Traditional Councils, Local Municipalities, and both public and private sector partners.
She emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved through collaborative efforts that place communities at the center of service delivery.
Reflecting on Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy, the MEC highlighted that Mandela believed education to be a powerful instrument for transforming society. She encouraged the community, particularly young people, to make full use of the library as a place of knowledge, innovation, and hope, while continuing to uphold the values of unity, service, and compassion that Mandela championed throughout his life.
