The Green Future Social and Environmental Justice Network (GSEJN), a Botshabelo-based non-profit organization, celebrated the achievements of local youth by holding an award ceremony for the winners of their talent show on 28 August at the Sechaba Mahobe Library.
This talent search, initiated on 16 June, aimed to showcase the creativity of Botshabelo’s youth, develop their skills, and encourage them to steer away from negative social influences by taking their talents seriously. Participants demonstrated their abilities in various fields, including poetry, dance, arts, and music.
Moeketsi Diba from GSEJN emphasized the challenges young people face, such as alcohol and drug abuse, disrespect, and peer pressure. He highlighted the organization’s mission to encourage youth who may excel in their talents rather than academics to proudly pursue and showcase their skills.
Despite delays in presenting the awards due to funding issues, Diba expressed satisfaction in fulfilling their promise to the winners. They raised the necessary funds to ensure that winners were recognized for their hard work and dedication.
Diba underscored that GSEJN’s efforts extend beyond just showcasing talent; they strive to unite and motivate young people, reminding them that they can achieve great heights. The organization’s primary goal remains focused on youth development, encouraging them to realize that the sky is the limit.
