Brakenpark Extension 5 residents were over the moon as some of them became new homeowners.
More than twenty Breaking New Ground Houses (BNG) were officially handed over to the rightful beneficiaries in Bakenpark Extension 5, in Bethlehem, Free State, on Thursday, 12 March.
The scope of the project entails the construction of 184 BNG houses, so far 74 houses have been completed, and 24 were handed over by the MEC of CoGTA and Human Settlements, Saki Mokoena.

During the handover of the houses. MEC Mokoena was accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Dihlabeng Local Municipality, Tseki Tseki. About 39 million rand has been earmarked for the project, which is expected to be completed around November this year.
One of the beneficiaries is a 61-year-old
Maria Mofokeng (61), who was one of the beneficiaries, was very ecstatic and grateful to receive a house from the department.
Mofokeng stated that she has been waiting to own a house for many years, and seeing that dream finally coming true felt surreal, and her heart was finally at rest, and she was grateful to the MEC and his department.

MEC Mokoena also visited the Bakenpark Extension 7, to check progress on the completion of the 90 sites which were allocated to beneficiaries in December last year.
Bakenpark Extension 6& 7 is an Integrated Mixed Housing Development established in 2021. It includes Breaking New Ground (BNG), houses, First Home Finance, and Subsidy Assistance (FLISP).
