Marquard Combined School (formerly known as Hoerskool Marquard/ Marquard High School) will proudly celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 120 years of serving the Marquard community through education, leadership, and community development.
Founded in 1906, the school has stood as a pillar of the community for generations, educating thousands of learners and helping to shape the future of countless families in Marquard and the surrounding areas. Over the past twelve decades, the school has witnessed significant changes in education, society, and technology, yet its commitment to providing quality education and nurturing well-rounded individuals has remained unchanged.
Throughout its rich history, Marquard Combined School has been more than just a place of learning. It has served as a gathering point for the community, a source of local pride, and a place where lifelong friendships and lasting memories have been formed. To commemorate this historic achievement, the school will host a 120-Year Celebration Festival from 7 to 9 August 2026. The event promises to be one of the largest community celebrations in the school’s history, bringing together current learners, parents, alumni, former educators, community leaders, local businesses, and supporters from across the region.
The two-day festival will feature a variety of activities designed to celebrate both the school’s heritage and its future. Visitors can look forward to a vibrant market day, exciting sports activities, a fun run, entertainment, food stalls, exhibitions showcasing the school’s history, and various family-friendly attractions. A lucky draw with attractive prizes will further add to the festivities.
School representatives described the celebration as an opportunity not only to honour the past but also to strengthen community ties and create new memories for future generations.
“This milestone belongs to everyone who has contributed to the success of Marquard Combined School over the past 120 years,” said members of the organising committee. “We want to celebrate the educators who dedicated their lives to teaching, the learners who represented the school with pride, and the community that has supported the school throughout its history.”
