Moemaneng in Marquard might be considered a small town, but it is set to launch the biggest life-changing initiative ever called “Community Youth Bank” (CYB)
The launch, which will be the biggest in Moemaneng, will be held in March 2026.
A brainchild of the Chakela Lepele Foundation, Community Youth Bank, which is a social entrepreneurship programme aimed at changing the lives of young people in the Free State Province.
The Community Youth Bank aims to alleviate poverty and fight crime through skills development and economic development by using a community participation approach.
Through participating in the programme, young people and members of the community participate in various charity activities that enable them to earn and acquire points that they can use to their benefit.

Community Youth Bank is a youth empowerment social enterprise established to promote positive behaviour, community service, and skills development among young people.
CYB operates through an innovative points-based reward system, where youth earn points for participating in approved activities such as volunteering, community clean-ups, skills training, and civic initiatives.
The Chakela Lepele Foundation has created an application (APP) that young people in the province can download and register to be part of the Community Youth Bank, earn points, and redeem them. The App can be downloaded for Free on Google Play.
The points earned are recorded in individual CYB accounts and can be redeemed for skills development opportunities, work-readiness support, training programmes, tools, certificates, and other empowerment incentives. This model shifts youth development away from dependency and hand-outs towards earned opportunity, accountability, and dignity.
CYB serves as a bridge between youth, communities, government, training institutions, and the private sector.
The Community Youth Bank launch in Moemaneng, Marquard, will be marked by a large-scale community cleaning campaign, mobilising youth to clean public spaces while earning CYB points through community service.
Just by serving their community, the Moemaneng community in Marquard will be able to earn points and be rewarded. During the launch day in Moemaneng, CYB will focus on Cleaning of streets, open fields, public facilities, and common areas.

Those who participate in the CYB initiative on launch day, they will earn rewards and points. There will be same-day rewards earned for participation that will be redeemed by the CYB Application (App), where food parcels will be redeemed.
As part of the launch event, youth participants who complete the community cleaning campaign will be able to redeem a food parcel on the same day using points earned through the Community Youth Bank system.
CYB has partners such as Maisha Clinics (Dr Thamahe), which has joined the initiative to change lives, and Morojaneng Driving School, which will play a major role in ensuring that youth get a driving license.
CYB is looking for the people and Youth of Moemaneng and the entire Marquard to participate. 100 Youth volunteers are needed, 10 community leaders/Officials, 10 Event Staff and Volunteers, and five (5) Sponsor Representatives. They should come from Marquard only.
Those who want to participate, earn points, and be part of the launch can contact the Chakela Lepele Foundation on 063 861 2223 or email motsamai21@gmail.com
