Talented musicians Princess Kasumi and Fre-E Spin, based in Free State, have released a new EP titled “Umhlaba and Beyond”.
The EP is a three-step genre, which is a growing South African genre made popular by artists like Thakzin and Dlala Thukzin.
The duo is signed under Soul K Records which is known for releasing hits after hits and continues to dominate the local music space. Kasumi and Fre-E Spin wanted to release something different with this project and aimed to reach those who need to be uplifted and healed.
The EP has a total of five songs, including Okuhle, a song addressed to men encouraging them to heal and to express their emotions when in pain. Inhlonipho addresses Gender-Based Violence and calls on men to protect women and children. Ilanga is a song that praises the birth of a star, while Ndibile tells a story of people being accused of theft and want to clear their names.
Elihle is a love song that talks about expressing love interest and overcoming disapproval. Fre-E Spin is a talented DJ and producer who takes music seriously and believes in cheering people up through his music.
Princess Kasumi is a multitalented musician, poet, and actress who is versatile and does various genres of music. Music is a calling for Kasumi which she inherited from her parents. The collaboration between Fre-E Spin and Princess Kasumi is set to shake the industry as they worked their magic on the project, aiming to leave a lasting legacy.
