Thabo Billagesh Kgopiso, an Amapiano artist from Christiana and currently based in Barkley West, is set to make a name for himself in the Amapiano music scene with his upcoming EP titled “Ubuthakathi,” slated for release in September.
This sizzling EP is filled with potential hits and is expected to catapult the Barkley West-based artist to stardom. Thabo describes his EP as more than just music; it is a reflection of his life, deeply rooted in his real experiences with betrayal, jealousy, and spiritual warfare.
“Ubuthakathi” explores the emotional and cultural journey he has faced as he rises in the music industry. This journey has been clouded by witchcraft from people he once called friends and by family dynamics that sought to destroy his relationship with his girlfriend due to the twins they are expecting.
“After conducting my own research and speaking with elders and spiritual guides, I came to understand that in some African belief systems, twins are spiritually powerful and can even be used by some for wealth rituals. I don’t fully understand it, but what’s happening around me is real. The pain, confusion, and growth that have come from this experience have birthed this EP,” Thabo explained.
“Ubuthakathi” is raw, spiritual, and authentically Amapiano, featuring production and lyrics that reflect both celebration and caution. Thabo believes his story will resonate deeply with fans, particularly those who have faced similar silent battles and those who appreciate music that speaks truth.
