Frank Lepati has a deep love for radio engraved in his heart. When behind the microphone, Frank, known as DJ Nic, finds contentment in doing what he loves. Originally from Senekal, he currently resides in Ficksburg. Frank hosts the “Tsoha o Ikele Breakfast Show” and “Club 937” on Setsotso FM, a community radio station in Ficksburg, Free State.
Growing up, Frank was inspired by various radio presenters and realized at a young age that he wanted to pursue a career behind the mic. He listened to Aubrey “M” Menong and Thabang Rampoane, who sparked his passion for radio.
Frank admired their lively presentation and creativity, which captivated him and led to his love for the medium.
“Radio is a theater of the mind; it speaks to you and allows you to engage with your listeners while expressing your creativity. It’s a platform to teach, inform, educate, and entertain those who tune in,” Frank emphasized.
His show, “Tsoha O Ikele Breakfast Show,” airs Monday to Friday from 6 AM to 9 AM, focusing on social issues, culture, and news that impact daily life. Frank also includes entertainment segments, ensuring listeners are well-informed about local news in the Setsoto Municipality.
On Saturdays, his other show, “Club 937,” airs from 9 AM to 12 PM. This program centers on entertainment and aims to inspire listeners about life in general, delivering positive energy to the audience.
When it comes to preparing his shows, Frank shares, “We plan a show weekly and align it with the calendar. Our preparation focuses on local news, particularly service delivery issues, not only within our municipality but across all sectors.”
Frank began his radio career in 2001 at Naledi Radio in Senekal and joined Setsoto FM in 2009, where he continues to work today. For DJ Nic, radio is life. It is accessible to everyone, allows for immediate information sharing, supports local businesses, showcases charity events, and helps make dreams come true.
