Selosesha residents celebrated Youth Day with dance, indigenous games, and educating children about the history of June 16.
This year, Youth Day was celebrated with indigenous games and educational activities focused on the importance and history of the day. Dineo Masilo, the organizer of the event, noted that many people have forgotten the educational aspect of Youth Day, as the focus has shifted to wearing school uniforms and partying with DJs.
She emphasized the significance of June 16, which should involve more than just these activities. As part of the celebrations, participants engaged in indigenous games, which are an essential part of childhood.

“We decided to share this history with our children by playing indigenous games with them, dancing, and filling our small community with joy and laughter,” Masilo stated.
The event took place in Selosesha, Thaba Nchu, and was organized by Dineo Masilo and Itumeleng Malebo, coordinated by Boitumelo Moalusi. The organizers plan to host these celebrations annually on June 16.
