Since childhood, Riaano Johnathans has dreamed of being in front of the camera, aspiring to become an actor.

Earlier this year, he landed a cameo role as Mr. T, a private investigator on the SABC 2 soapie Muvhango, where he was hired by James Motsamai, played by Dingaan Khumalo.

Hailing from Thaba Nchu, Riaano recently made his mark on the popular Showmax series Empini, taking on the role of a doctor. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying it allowed South Africans to witness his talent.

In addition to acting, Riaano is a versatile artist who works as a Master of Ceremonies, voice-over artist, model, Charmer boy and presenter.

Reflecting on his excitement upon receiving the news about the Empini role, he shared, “The excitement broke when I got a call from my agent Nonkululeko that I’ll be shooting Empini. Never have I thought my face would soon be on Showmax or one of the biggest drama series in Mzansi.”

On the filming day, Riaano admitted to feeling nervous as it was his first time portraying a doctor. However, the warm welcome from the cast and crew made him feel at home, enabling him to execute his role smoothly. He particularly enjoyed bonding with Jaguar, who plays Striker, as they shared a scene together.

“Being on set is so professional for me. I want to score a major role and continue my journey in the character I am given. Acting is not just a career path for me; it’s a job I’m passionate about,” Riaano emphasized.

With his talent and determination, Riaano is certainly one to watch in the South African entertainment industry.
