Growing up in Deneysville, Free State, music has always been a part of Mollo Da Rapper’s life. He used to sing along to Sesotho tunes on the radio and to his mom’s favorite artists like the late Lampi le Lehlohonolo.
But it wasn’t until he was 14 that he realized that music would be his path.
Navigating adolescence was tough, especially since they were dealing with their own struggles. Mollo, real name Ntsatsi Joseph Masolane, found solace in music, writing poems, and singing aloud, which helped him realize his singing abilities.
“I started performing at local talent shows and school events, where people began to take notice. I was shy, but music gave me the courage to step on stage. My first big performance was nerve-wracking, but once I started singing, something clicked.” He stated.
Mollo adds more, “After that, I began writing more songs and recording them on my phone. Sharing them with friends and family brought encouragement to take my music to the next level.”

He writes songs about his experiences, dreams, and passions—reflecting his life in Deneysville, the beauty of the Free State, and the people who inspired him.
One song that became a turning point for Mollo was “Lerumo ka pelong yaka” (The Spear in My Heart). Through it, he finally found his voice and purpose. The song gained traction on social media.
“When Lerumo ka pelong yaka” dropped, it was shared everywhere, and I received a call from SABC 1 to perform on one of their TV shows. It felt unreal, but I knew I was on the right path.” He echoed.

The exposure brought by Lerumo Ka Pelong Yaka brought more opportunities, sharing stages with industry legends like Malome Vector, 2point1, and Nokuthula from Idols SA.
“Looking back, I see how far I’ve come—from the streets of Deneysville to the stages of South Africa. It’s been a wild ride with incredible people, unforgettable music, and valuable lessons. I have new music in the works, collaborations brewing, and dreams to chase.” said Mollo.
