Two suspects, aged 32 and 33, were arrested by members of the Bethlehem Public Order Policing (POP) Unit during a disruptive operation in Reitz and Petsana last Friday.
The police acted on information received from the community about a house in Petsana township suspected of engaging in drug sales. Upon reaching the identified address and conducting a search, they found two plastic bags containing over 2,000 Mandrax tablets, valued at approximately R122,000.

Both a man and a woman were arrested on site and charged with drug dealing. They made their appearance before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 9, 2026, and the case was postponed to February 16, 2026, for a formal bail application.
The SAPS in the Free State praised the community for their trust in law enforcement and for providing the necessary information, which led to the prompt arrest of the suspects. They emphasized that combating drug-related crime is a collective responsibility and commended their officers for their swift response and dedication to serving the community.
