The family of the late Puleng Magdeline Motlodi, affectionately known as Sesi, will finally get to lay their loved one rest. The DNA results have finally confirmed that the remains that were found in a pit toilet in Zone 5, Thaba Nchu on 20 May were those of the young girl.
Since her remains were discovered, she had not been laid to rest as the police were waiting for DNA results to prove if the remains found were hers, something which caused pain to Puleng’s family as the inconclusive DNA results meant the family had to wait a little longer to bury their loved ones.
Baleseng Matlakala, Puleng’s guardian said her family can now breathe a sigh of relief as the DNA came back positive and proved that the remains found were those of Puleng.
She thaned Free State World for publishing a story about her remains not been buried and keeping her case in the public eye as that seem to have played a role in DNA results being released and the case being given attention.
Puleng also thanked the Detective who handled the case as the Dective worked hard on the case and did his best to ensure that the family gets the results and are able to bury Puleng.
:We are grateful to share that the DNA resilts are finally out and confirmed that the remains are indeed those of our beloved Sesi” Said Baleseng.
She stated that even though they are happy that they will finally busy Sesi as she was popularly known, the confirmation has also reopened wounds of losing her and even though the family will get closure, they remain hopeful that those responsible for for taking her life will be arrested.
Three suspects were arrested, but one was released due to a lack of evidence linking him to the crime. The other two were also released when the case was struck off the roll in late 2025. Since then, there has been silence regarding the case, which has only compounded the family’s distress.
The family now has faith that the case will be enrolled and the DNA will play a vital role in getting justice for Sesi.
