The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) presents Silenced (Ho Khutsisoa), a powerful contemporary dance theatre production that confronts some of society’s most difficult and urgent issues, including rape, abuse, inequality, human rights, justice and freedom.
Through movement, physical expression and storytelling, Silenced (Ho Khutsisoa) gives a voice to experiences that are often ignored, hidden or left unspoken. The production challenges audiences to reflect on the realities faced by marginalised communities and encourages meaningful conversations about the importance of speaking out against abuse and injustice.
With its central message, “Break the Silence,” the production uses contemporary dance as a powerful form of communication. It demonstrates how the body can tell stories of pain, resilience, oppression and hope without relying solely on spoken words.

The Production run from 11-15 August at the Andre Huguenet Theatre, PACOFS in Bloemfontein. Silenced (Ho Khutsisoa) is not simply a dance performance; it is an invitation to listen to stories that are too often silenced.
The production explores themes of rape, abuse, equality, justice, freedom and the experiences of marginalised communities, encouraging audiences to confront uncomfortable realities and consider the importance of creating spaces where survivors and affected communities can be heard. At approximately 60 minutes, the production is recommended for audiences between the ages of 16 and 50.

Through artistic expression, Silenced (Ho Khutsisoa) creates a space for reflection and dialogue, reminding audiences that breaking the silence is an important step towards confronting abuse and injustice.
