The Free State Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, led by MEC Dibolelo Mance, has contributed to preserving the legacy of struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
The Department undertook refurbishment and cleaning work at the Winnie Mandela House (Museum) in Brandfort, Free State, ensuring that this historic site remains a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the fight against apartheid.

The work completed included repainting the external walls of the museum and office, repairing window blinds, addressing electrical issues, fixing wall cracks, and renovating toilets, among other tasks.

Additionally, the Department continued its efforts to plant trees and clean the area around the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Museum through the Letsema Campaign, which involves Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) participants.
The day began with an outreach program at the Lesedi Disabled Day Care Centre, which serves 21 children with disabilities. Donations included food parcels, dignity packs, blankets, and sporting kits.
MEC Mance emphasized that “the little they bring is in appreciation to the staff to make the lives of the children better.”
