Education and Health Departments get a lion’s share of the 2024/2025 FS Budget

The Free State MEC for Finance Gadija Brown on Wednesday 6 March tabled what could be her last budget speech as the Finance MEC. The Free State 2024/2025 budget speech was tabled at the Free State Legislature in Bloemfontein.

Once again, Education and Health Departments received a lion’s share of the budget.

Allocations per department were done as follows:

*Education: R17.895 billion

*Health: R13.717 billion

*Social Development: R1.305 billion

*Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and *Recreation: R641.789 million

*Public Works: R2.092 billion

*Community Safety, Roads and Transport: R3.606 billion.

*Agriculture and Rural Development: R829.092 million

*Human Settlements: R1.268 billion

*DESTEA: R2.058 billion

*Office of the Premier: R632.629 million

*COGHTA: R416.985 million

*Free State Treasury: R284.911 million

*Free State Legislature: R284.911 million
