The Bloemfontein-based fashion designer Lehlohonolo Majola said he quit teaching as a student in his fourth year to follow fashion design. He was an education student at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein in 2019.

His talent is grabbing attention and his unique designs are attracting clients as people are falling in love with his unique work.

Majola does contemporary African clothing designs with African cultural designs in his work. He received further training at the Motheo TVET College Rapid Incubation Centre which continues to perfect his talent and equip him with business training and knowledge.

According to Majola, his mother supported his decision to quit teaching after he informed her of how passionate he was about designing clothes. He founded Bantu Creations which is the brand name of his clothes.

“I told my mother I had found something I could do for the next 40 years and that’s how I ventured fully into fashion design. I make clothes that people can wear every day without waiting for special occasions. I make jackets, T-shirts, trousers, hats and I also design according to clients’ needs,” said Majola.

He sells his work from as little as R100. Majola urges people not to give up on their dreams and to do whatever it takes to follow their dreams.
